New phone and an app that simplified my life!

So, I did it. I preordered the iPhone 5 the day it was opened, and it arrived Friday.

There are many great things about it. The slim size, the better camera (that will be evident below), the speed, the faster Internet, Siri. I also found a new app when I got it and it is life altering. It simplifies grocery shopping/lists.

It allows me to type in a list, and then open it and share it with PW so he can add/change things on it from his phone. Then, whoever goes shopping has this list and can swipe things off of it when they get them!

I used it this weekend and it was awesome. Being able to share the list between us is awesome, and I forgot not a THING at the store today! Love it. And it’s free. Love technology!

Other than playing with my new phone it has been a normal weekend! A seminar from grad school all day yesterday, grocery shopping, laundry/cleaning, and baking cookies for my coworkers!

Family dinner tonight as well. Making a pinterest recipe for dinner to,or row–pretty core friendly. Will post it if it works out!

Troubleshooting and JUICE!

I am still having Heart Rate Monitor Strap issues. It’s been wacky for over a month–most of the time it reads somewhere between 230 and 260. I did some googling and went through some troubleshooting. I:

1. Tried different shirts. Static electricity can mess with the reading.

2. Tried rewetting it.

3. Changed the battery.

4. Tightened the strap.

5. Loosened the strap.

And now I am at a loss! It read a little better today during my post-work run. I was able to see glimpses of real heart rates throughout the 45 minutes. The only other thing of note about my run? I got a bug in my eye. UGH. I feel like this happens to me more often than other people–I think I have slow eye reaction time!

When I got back home from my work/run adventure, PW did our usual afternoon routine. JUICING! Our usual juice is beet/kale/lemon/ginger. Today I through an apple too–how festive, I know. I looooooove juicing! I recommend it and totally encourage any questions about it if you have them!

We then did something I have been waiting three years for–hung up the picture frames I bought when we first moved in. I had the idea for a picture collage but hadn’t picked out the pictures or a wall! These pictures are all ones I took while we were in different parts of the country together.

Then it was time for dinner–core tacos! Ground turkey and lavash bread. And our new favorite salsa–“On The Border”. They were delicious!

Looks like it is going to be a soggy Tuesday. Will it be my first treadmill run of the season? Only time will tell!

Back at it!

It has been a busy couple of weeks! The summer ended with a bang–the QT2 Vermont camp:

And MeatFest! You may remember MeatFest from last year. Five courses of meat with sides and desserts in between. It was once again one of the highlights of my summer–I mean, how could you go wrong? My two favorite parts of it: the Mac and cheese (again!) and homemade bacon beer. In fact, I even brought some of that home so PW could try it. It was hoppy and sweet. Some MeatFest pictures below….

Check this out, someone even made chocolate bacon cupcakes!!

School began, of course. Things are going awesome so far! I have great classes, great kids, great coworkers. And grad school is back on! I am busy again between teaching, grad school, and running. Trying to get the blog back up and running as well.

No running races on the schedule right now….thinking about the Hyannis Half again though!
